e opened our dojo initially on July 1, 2004, to continue teaching Suenaka Style Aikido in Richmond and to create a place for serious practice in the spirit of friendship. Several years later, we began offering instruction in White Tiger Kenpo in addition to our Aikido Program. After adding Kenpo it was decided to name our dojo since we were more than just an Aikido School. The Koji Dojo or Koji Martial Arts was born. In Japanese, Koji means origin, tradition, and persistence, which is reflective of our martial lineage and indicative of our approach in our training.
Whether you choose to study Kenpo or Aikido, you will be supported in a beginner friendly environment. Students with physical limitations learn at their own pace. Instruction is tailored to speed the development of technical proficiency while keeping physical risk at a minimum. In addition to our focus on the bujitsu applications, we also strive to develop a better understanding of the principles of budo, and their application in our daily lives outside the dojo.
Members of our dojo come together in an enjoyable yet serious training atmosphere to le
arn and to become proficient Kenpo martial artists. The study of Kenpo Jujits is a dynamic experience and if properly approached, can become a life long journey of physical and spiritual betterment.
Our members have a special bond with one another which is forged through the rigorous training they undergo. Kenpo training offers you an opportunity to enhance your physical and mental well-being, an avenue to improved endurance, a path to developing greater self confidence and personal awareness to name several. More importantly, our instruction teaches you how to avoid becoming a victim.
Whether you are trained in another martial art or you have no experience at all, you will find value in our training and approach and the efficacy of the Kenpo Jujits system.
Everyone comes to Kenpo with varying life experiences and different physical abilities, which are the reasons we strive to provide a supportive and safe place to train. If you want a new challenge, want to get in better shape, improve your fitness, or just meet a new people, our dojo is the place you want to be.
